Your Visit

The memorial is open to visitors seven days a week and almost all year round from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except for a few days when it is closed.

There are very few parking spaces at the memorial site. The two parking garages, Bavaria Parkgaragen (Am Waldschlösschen 4) and an underground parking Am Brauhaus (Am Brauhaus 12) are nearby.

We, therefore, recommend taking public transport with tram line 11 or the bus lines 74 or 261 to the "Angelikastraße" stop.

The memorial offers two special audio guides. In the audio guide "From the Soviet Basement Prison to the Camp,” eyewitnesses tell of their journey from the basements on Bautzner Straße to the Soviet camps. The walk-in radio play "Hello! You're under arrest!" takes you to a fictional GDR prison world. The texts are spoken by well-known actors from Dresden such as Hilmar Eichhorn, Anna Mateur, Tom Quaas, and many others.
